Pumps used for irrigation include deep-well turbine, submersible and propeller pumps. Standard pumps are designed for oil lubrication and are equipped with an oil reservoir, solenoid valve and needle valve.

Effective lubrication of the gear boxes, bearings and seals is crucial, as is using the appropriate lubricant. Most self-propelled systems have numerous moving parts that require lubrication. It’s also essential to ensuring that the oil is not mixed with water, as that can drastically increase wear and tear on the pumping system.
